CLEVELAND, OH – February 18, 2011 – Lucky Day Studio, a print and pattern studio based in Cleveland, wrapped up Surtex 2010 with several successful licensing deals, including agreements with Garven, Haynes Besco, and Robert Kaufman. Design Design, Inc, a social expressions company, developed Lucky Day’s signature piece into “Cupcake Crazy” and showcased the line, which included party goods, wrap, tissue, stationery and kitchen decor, at Surtex 2010. By the end of the year, Design Design’s Creative Director, Tom Vituj, reports, “Cupcake Crazy continues to do well and our reps still love it.” And to top things off for 2010, Haynes Besco released an extensive assortment of Lucky Day designs for a card line with a major retailer.
This year, Lucky Day will debut several new collections at Surtex including “Sweet” which centers around all things yummy, topped-off with lively line work and juicy colors. Also new is “Scribble” - a variety of themes, icons and characters dressed in fun textures. And for the holidays is the expansion the popular “Retro Punchbowl” - flavors from our youth with a punchy twist.
“We’ve spent this past year creating many fresh new looks and building on those that were well received last year at Surtex,” says Donna. “We shifted our focus over the years to produce custom work for our clients and are thrilled to see these custom pieces succeed at retail. Our biggest challenge right now is keeping up with the demands of our customers, while generating enough new art to show at Surtex.”
Lucky Day looks forward to another lucky show, as they host their booth at the international SURTEX 2011 tradeshow May 15-17 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, but in a new location. “We’ve had such great success at Surtex over the past two years,” says Julia, “we were quick to re-sign and put ourselves in the heart of the action.”
